Due to at times being dissatisfied with my Explorer (fully loaded at least), I am leaning towards trying the Old Town Tripper rather than gambling on the Mad River Freedom. The Explorer tracks well, cruises on flat water and is seaworthy enough to handle chop, wind and waves with confidence. I carried one for five miles with a 2,000' elevation drop.
